A dynamic brand for a cleaner ocean

Founded in 2018, SeaAhead connects Bluetech start-ups to funding and support infrastructure. It takes a multifaceted approach to ocean solutions—supporting Bluetech startups, investing in venture innovations, and bringing together leaders to build a supportive ecosystem. It needed a strong and unified brand experience to reflect its position as an industry leader and appeal to its different target audiences.

The logo was updated to be more modern and vibrant while maintaining brand recognition. A new visual language based on the idea of biomimicry was built around it, bringing the beauty of ocean ecosystems and climate tech to the forefront. The new visual experience embraces ambiguity, unexpected beauty, and flexibility.

SeaAhead has sub-brands that needed a clearly defined architecture and visual languages of their own. We clarified their system as a branded house, and the new visual identity provided a solid foundation that could appeal to the different target audiences. The result is a nimble brand identity that reflects SeaAhead’s new leadership position and
can grow with them as they scale their
impact for healthier oceans.

The primary color palette of blues is supported by bold colors inspired by  vibrant ocean ecosystems. Photography highlights textures and patterns naturally found in ocean ecosystems and the technology built around it. The system utilizes a mix of full-color and monochrome photography.

The identity was built with flexibility in mind, and this extended to the logo. In its default state, the icon reflects an ocean skyline, but it can become a frame for photography, pattern, and color.
